New Demo Now Live!
We've released our first chapter today as an extended demo! Dive back into Styx as you revisit the Prologue and continue forward into Act One in its entirety. As a team, we believe in taking our time to deliver the best story possible without crunch – it’s part of our power as an indie studio. We really appreciate everyone who’s been patiently waiting ever since we announced Call Me Under, so we wanted to show our appreciation by releasing this extended demo. We hope it offers a taste of what’s to come for our delicious cast and the sinister mysteries they find themselves trapped within.
Play as the Human or the Skia in our two different player roles to uncover the mysteries of Styx. But choose wisely! Some of your choices affect the interactions you unlock. With a number of new CGs across both routes, we're excited to show you a little more of the story we've been working so hard on, and hopefully leave you wanting more ready for the full release later this year.
Demo Notes
While some of the UI is updated from what you saw in the original demo, this is not necessarily the final look! We wanted to give it a bit more polish so you get an idea of what the final game will look like, but we also wanted to keep a lot of that under-wraps for the main release. The gallery is simplified to just display the demo CGs, but in the main game, we will have multiple galleries for CGs, flashbacks, and other fun things you'll encounter around Styx.
Another important thing that those of you who played the original demo will notice is that we removed Blue's voice-over lines. This is purely because it felt a little misplaced now we've extended the demo and ONLY had his prologue lines voiced. The purpose of getting those demo lines voiced originally was to help our Kickstarter prospects. But do not fear, THE FINAL GAME WILL STILL BE VOICED!
We encourage you to share your experience with your playthrough by using #CMUdemo
See you under the waves.

The demo looks amazing. The art in your games is always so beautiful. And I absolutely loved the voiced intro!
Btw, are you planning on making this game a bit more spicy like WTNC, or more tame like Errant Kingdom?
As always, i love your art style, the music and the premise of story is good
But I'm sorry I feel like the MC is the third wheel. Tbh i play a game like this hoping to romance characters, not to read about how those characters romance each other. Your games always have this thing where some of their characters are involve with each other and I feel like the MC is intruding on their relationship. Its make sense if u want to pursue a poly relationship but if u won't its feel forced and unnatural. In When the Night Comes are Finn and Erza and Omen and Alkar, in Errant Kingdom, are Erik and Maja and Lucien and Raiden. And now Blue and Adrien and Penny and Callie. Imo it's kinda exhausting I guess. Im sorry if my statement offend u, I'm just stating my experience playing all your games :)
While you can of course persue romance with the cast, the main focus in Call Me Under is the story. Our cast are all incredibly well fleshed-out and written in a way that ensures they are not simply 'just' love interests, they are their own individual characters with detailed backstories and secrets, and have complicated lives which include some of them having relationships (not all romantic in nature) with each other. The poly pairings are not already established either, they are either budding or mere flirtations unless you choose to pursue them together.
We have poly people on the team and have always strived to ensure our poly rep is as natural as possible, especially when the rep for these kinds of relationships in media is often so badly misrepresented. If you choose to persue one of the characters who is part of a potential poly pairing as an individual romance, as with ALL of our games, there will be no awkwardness, jealousy etc. Again, that isn't something we wish to portray, and we've always had wonderful feedback about the way we handle those romances.
The MC is not a third wheel, but a new face/fish out of water in a city where the story makes it clear that they need to find their footing and establish themselves to understand and unpack what is happening.
We really hope you can still enjoy the story despite feeling this way!
I can't wait for the whole game :D BUT... Small question: Will the animated backgrounds be in the final product? I really liked them... I've noticed that they are static in the new demo. +Bug report : if you choose a origin click "back" and then choose another one the "back" button doesn't work anymore. ;)
Absolutely thrilled to jump back in to this one! Thank you guys so much for devoting yourselves to putting out the best product possible. ❤️
Jumping back in here to say that I loved both routes deeply. The atmosphere in this one is really top notch - maybe it's my Bioshock nostalgia talking, or my unabashed love for a good noir caper - but even without that there's a real moodiness to this one that really makes me want to sink my teeth in. The music in particular is excellently done - and has been in every game, but this one has such a pensive, somewhat somber mood that it really does help with getting me as a reader into the mindset to dig deeper. And so many questions! I love the nods to Greek mythology, and am very much looking forward to digging in to the lore of Styx and the Sirens and whatever dark nonsense Blue is elbows deep in, too.
And speaking of Blue, the whole cast is wonderful, as always. I love how dedicated you guys are to creating characters that are living and existing in their own world, who have presence there beyond being glorified accessories to the main character and their plot. It makes the whole thing feel like a living, breathing world, one where we have just a very small perspective in a much larger story. And since this one hangs it hat with all the good detective stories, never has that worked more in your favor (imho) for setting a tone. The MC doesn't know anything, we don't know anything, and everyone has secrets to hide. I'm in love with them anyway, and I support all of their wrongs, but I'm still excited to find each skeleton in the closet as we go.
And on one last note, can I get the number for the Call Center of Cthulu? Asking for a friend
Glob. Blue... so dangerous yet so alluring. I keep wanting to dive head first to the dangers and uncertain for him. Lol. You guys are really so amazing at fleshing out characters like this. I'm sooooo looking forward to the full version. Any estimation when the full version is coming?
Lmfao I thought there was an error at first but it was my cat sitting on the keyboard
