Development Update

Hi everyone

I'm using today's promised update to clue you all in on what our plans are now we’re slowly restarting development.

Development is slowly resuming, and though we haven't updated here since December, we actively continued work on the game until March 2024.

I understand that projects die without warning a lot of the time, and it gets hard in this environment to ask for trust when trust is abused or taken for granted. What I'm asking is that you take my apology as it is, which is painfully genuine, and not use it against me or my team, or other people I happen to work with.

I really hope we can move forward positively, because I truly love this game and the team that works on it. There's only 5 of us right now, but we're looking to expand. We need a new programmer (because I REALLY don't want to do it all alone again), and a UI artist. Those hires will hopefully be made over the next month or two!

Over the last month, I've been reviewing all of our scripts and editors notes, and I'll now be starting work on our last couple of acts alongside my co-writer, Kevin.

Art-wise, we need a few alternate sprite expressions and poses, a small handful of CGs for the final acts, and some menu assets.

While there's no release date set in stone right now while we get back into everything, I'm feeling really positive about the road ahead.

Going forward, I'll be updating on our progress here monthly and sharing development info and WIPs.

We're unfortunately totally locked out of our Twitter account (thanks, El*n) and I'm not sure how long it'll take us to get our access back, so don't expect to see us there. I'm contemplating a bluesky account in the meantime.

As always, thank you for your patience and support.

I just thought about this game recently! I've been following Lunaris since the early days of WTNC and I'm so excited to see you're back :3 take your time

Glad to hear you are getting back on your feet. From what updates i saw/found I know that life gave you some hard punches. Thank you for the update and I'm still very much looking forward to the game. I would rather you all take your time and make something awesome than rush because of pressure to meet time goals.

When I read the part about needing help with art and programming the helpful and impulsive side of my brain jumped up to say I should offer to help. I immediately reminded the dumbass (my brain) that those tasks are way above my skill level.

Welcome back! Thank you for your hard work. Your games have always made me smile. Don't forget to rest and to hydrate! Do your best.

Oh! Genuinely thought Lunaris was dead. I have so much love for previous titles and I look forward to seeing how this game turns out and seeing an update from you guys is very exciting.

Best of luck to all of you, and increased transparency regarding the game going forward will be very reassuring.

Hi! I'm a dev (Bachelors degree in Computer Science) and looking to work remotely from the US. Please reach out to me- my name is Rohan, and you can reach me at rohan@craftingdata.com; I really hope to hear from you. I loved When The Night Comes with intense hyperfixation (I made a whole new tumblr at silversirensong.tumblr.com for it). But finding out that you're working on a game with mermaids? And need a dev? I had to say something.

Trying BlueSky could be a solution ? A lot of developpers went there these last few months.

I'm still so excited for this no matter the wait. Happy to have an update!

Oh nice. I actually only caught up recently on the absence and thought it was time to give up on waiting for good to know it’s still happening. Good luck.
